We all came from somewhere and in the words of Bob Dylan,” You’re gonna have to serve somebody.” Maybe I am wrong about everything I believe. Maybe my ancestors crawled out of the sea and into the trees. Maybe from the trees, over time, we became men. Maybe all of this is one big accident that put me at this keyboard, right here, right now, and when I am gone…. that’s it.

But when I look around, I see order. I see hills with grass on them. I see trees that are standing because they have deep roots under the ground that the grass is growing on. Birds in those trees. Flowers and bees and pollination and everywhere I look , I see something that was built. One thing on another and that tells me that there had to be a builder. Anything that was ever created had a creator. So I see a Creator. The Creator.

A lot of folks think that our lives are like a big tug of war with the outcome in question. Satan don’t know. God don’t know, but He is hoping we choose Him. Let that sink in. How can you trust anyone that can be surprised? Someone who doesn’t already know the outcome? And how could He know? God is eternal. And along with being Omnipotent, our Creator is also Omnipresent. He is all powerful and everywhere. God is present in all time and space. There, I said it. The Creator knows who is His and who isn’t. He isn’t sitting on a throne in the clouds wondering how it’s going.

So, what is my responsibility to an unbeliever? As I see it, just tell the truth about the Good News and always be ready with an answer, even if that answer is sometimes I don’t know.

It’s not my job to save your soul. If you don’t go to Heaven, it’s on you. I honestly think that everyone who goes to Hell, goes the same way. Kicking and screaming and wishing that they had another chance. Now we can split hairs forever but like I said, I can’t save your soul so believe whatever you want but remember what Bob said, “you’re gonna serve somebody.”

Having told you what I believe, there are a great many things that I don’t know and I wonder just like you do. Where everyone came from isn’t one of them however. Everyone came from Adam. Once again, it’s not my job to make you believe that, so believe what you will but what I would tell you is that I haven’t found anything in the bible as difficult to believe  as something crawling out of the ocean and becoming man.

I suppose that it all boils down to one thing… faith. Without faith no amount of words will be enough and with faith none will be necessary.

  1. There are so many things in this life that we can’t explain. One of them spent the weekend at your house and loves your dearly. I pray that those who don’t believe can witness one miracle that outshines all skepticism.
