God has a plan and no amount of effort or excuses will ever alter that plan in any way, and yet the enemy continues trying….

I remember the Old Testament story of Moses and Pharaoh, and God’s demand spoken through His servant, Let My people go. Now we know that the original request was to allow them to travel three days journey into the desert so that they could sacrifice into their God. Talk about bad decisions… Pharaoh said no. Honestly, he said a lot more than that, and God reveals his plan to Moses…. Not only is Pharaoh going to let them leave, he’s going to drive them out of his land. Remember the covenant with Abraham? God does two things at this point that I have spent some time pondering, He tells Moses to go to Pharaoh again to demand his people’s release, and He hardens Pharaoh’s heart so that he won’t let them go. Please keep in mind that Egyptian’s considered Pharaoh to be god on earth functioning as an intermediary, so Jehovah is about to be tested by a human masquerading as a deity with a bag of parlor tricks. Plague after plague and submission after submission, were mingled with deceit, and a hardened heart. Each time cost Pharaoh and Egypt dearly, and weakened them a little more. Finally the ultimate price that touched every single family and broke Pharaoh, the death of every first born. Thousands across Egypt, gone over night.

I could never understand how he could allow all these plagues to destroy his land. How could he continue to relent and recant?

But now I’m watching Iran, and I can’t help wondering if just maybe God has a plan, and hearts have been hardened. It was all about His people way back then, and nothing has changed in my humble opinion.
