We are on the edge of a new age, and the average American is completely unprepared. The world is unprepared. While we are adapting to a world where most of us have abandoned privacy for the joy of sharing what we had for dinner on social media, technology continues to march toward the future. With a straight face I told my wife awhile back that I believe that in the future there will be AI radio stations that play nothing except artificial intelligence generated music sang by artificial intelligence artists. I believe this with all my heart. We cannot imagine a world right now without things that could not be imagined one hundred years ago. Fifty years ago you could walk out your front door and disappear. You could become someone completely different and start a new life. Try that today. When I think about all the things that I have witnessed come into existence, it feels like there has been an acceleration in the last half of my lifetime. Most everything had the potential to make our lives better, but has it? Has it made us happier? I secretly yearn for a world that died fifty years ago. We are helplessly addicted to the technology we spend a good deal of our time loathing. I’ve tried to break free of it and failed over and over, and I can only compare it to the addiction I had with cigarettes. I eventually broke free, but it left me less than, not more than I was. Now I wonder that for all the promise of artificial intelligence, if we aren’t going to be worse off rather than better for the experience. I believe that for better or for worse humanity will have the opportunity to integrate with AI, because it is already being developed, and where that leads us will be breathtaking, whether for good or bad. My blog was created for me to reflect on and record events I felt worthy of reflection and to leave something tangible behind to my family. I’ve often wondered what my ancestors pondered about and I have tried to cover a wide range of opinion and beliefs. I believe that integration with technology will make us less, there, I have said it. Less than what Wayne? What will it make us less than? Human.

God help us because it is coming.
