People say that when you leave this world behind, you don’t take anything with you. I disagree. I believe that we spend a lifetime building a resume, and when we step out of this world, that resume is tucked under our arm. There is something that my grandmother and grandfather would always say, and the older I get, I’m beginning to say this too…. God willing. I understand now that everything rests on those two words. A year from now God willing, I’ll be in my seventies, and even though my mind’s age hasn’t kept up with my body, I have become elderly and my resume according to statistics, is nearly complete. Something else an elderly person tends to do is look back through their resume and that’s exactly what I have done as well. In all honesty, I wish I could shred a few pages. Here is the most important point of all this…. The only important point really, somebody has already purged the Wayne file, and I owe Him everything. Somebody has removed all my failures, bad decisions and sin…. Jesus.

So here’s my take on all this in a nutshell….

Everything you leave behind is worthless except the memories you have given others, and what you have done for others. You probably should spend more time working on what you’re taking with you when you step into eternity. And above all that, seek out Jesus because He’s probably looking for you too.
