A wasted life is sad beyond words. It’s never just one life affected, and we see it all around us don’t we? The destruction of a prodigal child and the impact on the family left behind is painful and sad, and sobering. There have been so many sermons about the prodigal son, and the faithful son, and the love of the Father, and this story is one of the best ever told by Jesus. The pain of the Father over losing a child to the world has been on my mind lately. Many fathers pray for a reunion that never comes. A silent pain seldom if ever mentioned. No fatted calf, and no celebration. This world is full of happiness and joy, if one is willing to be still and wait, but if we are honest with ourselves, it is necessary to acknowledge that not every prayer is answered in the way we would want. Each individual is on their own journey that will someday be accounted for and we must also remember…. We were all prodigal at one time or another or there would have never been a need for a savior. Thank You Lord for waiting and watching.
