Not many places that will cause me to consider eternity as quickly as a funeral home. Sitting there and looking at a family member or a friend and listening to others talk about the wonderful reunion that’s going on in Heaven. But all I can do is wonder if we are talking about the same person. This isn’t about judging, but we’ve all done it. Thoughts about straight and narrow, and few…. wide, broad, many, and destruction, run through my mind, but somehow everybody I ever met was able to stay off the broad road. It’s how we make peace with ourselves. The truth is that the narrow gate is narrow because there won’t be a long line of people. I don’t think that there will be a line at all. The wide gate is also the size it is for a reason. That’s where the reunions will be going on, but not the good kind. In fact, I doubt there will be any talking in that line at all that isn’t about not belonging there.

There is another time I think about eternity. When I consider Jesus returning for those that are His. I’ve been watching world events and thinking about Heaven a lot lately. People who believe, have always thought that they were the generation, and here we are again, my generation. Jesus is coming soon. I’m certain. We who are His, even with all our imperfections, failures and flaws, must be about spreading the good news. This is my attempt to say that Jesus will provide you the way if you put your faith in Him. You say you don’t believe and that’s not my department. I’m not the one who can give you faith, but seek, and you will find. Ask and you will receive.

Amen.
