Something that I put on Facebook a year after retirement.

August 8th,4:00,2015.Thats when my life as a worker ended. So it has been a year in the making and I think it is time for a new list.

What I have learned about retirement.
1.You may never need an alarm clock again.
2.You will need something to help you keep up with what day of the week it is. (A smart phone is helpful).
3.Time does not move slower just because you are not working,it moves faster.
4.Retirement is a life changing event and so is downsizing. One life changing event per year is probably best.
5.The same thing that makes retiring scary also makes it exciting. The unknown is not necessarily a bad thing.

6.You are going to need something to occupy your time. The good part is that it doesn’t have to be work.

7.If one of your new hobbies is cooking and eating you are going to get large,or in my case, extra large!(I just started calorie counting now one of my brand new hobbies is thinking about not eating).

8.The last one is the best one and it was advice given to me by my dad years ago.If you are waiting until you have enough money to retire, you will never retire. (Money really isn’t everything and time is short).
