What does that even mean? It’s Christmas eve and I honestly feel like there is still plenty of poo left to step in between now and the end of the year. I can even see the hangered look in my eyes in this year that began with an effort to impeach a president with absolutely no evidence, and will apparently end with a stolen election, hundreds of eyewitnesses, collusion by both major parties, and a president with no intention of letting them get away with it. Did I mention half our population ready to fight? 

I laid this back and had myself a nice pour of a very good bourbon, and woke up on Christmas morning to learn of a large bomb in a RV exploding in downtown Nashville that just happened to get parked in front of the only building in Nashville that could shut down all communications all over the city,  most of the state, and even parts of adjoining states.  What a lucky choice of locations for this particular bomber. Let’s call it a coincidence and add it to the list of coincidences over the last few months. What else does this damn year have to offer?

So what exactly do we need to understand about this year? Well, here is a short list of things that I believe require an answer….

I need to understand how congress got away with impeaching a president just because they didn’t like him.

I need to understand how we went from a population willing to lay low for a few weeks to help hospitals prepare for a pandemic that would likely kill millions, to almost 10 months later wondering how blue States so quickly became everything they accused the other party of.

I need to know the real reason that the strongest economy in the history of civilization was forced to a screeching halt over a virus that had a 99% survival rate.

I would like to understand why the news outlets and all media picked a party to back at all cost, so far to the left that half of Americans can’t tell much difference from them and communists.

I need an explanation why people felt safe enough to do everything in public except vote.

I need to know why so many people were allowed to cause so much destruction with so little retribution in so many cities ran by liberal politicians.

Somebody somewhere please tell me why are red states allowing a handful of blue cities steal a federal election from them?

Amid all the trouble and turmoil in the last half of the year, my family also struggled with illness and all that encompasses. Part of coming to terms with 2020 will include watching a loved one waste away, both mentally and physically.

While I look forward to the promise of a new year, I am drawn to a quote from No Country for Old Men…

You never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from.

If that is true, God help us all.
