Maybe people just don’t do well without a master. Probably more people than I would like to admit. Maybe even some family members. With someone you are compelled to follow, the parimeters are clear, and penalties are swift. Maybe we have grown too soft for freedom. Our country is on fire in liberal strongholds, and has been for about five days now. all this started with peaceful protests over the murder of a black man by a white policeman who held his knee on the mans neck until he died. This was done in the very liberal city of Minneapolis. the authorities of this very liberal city waited four days to charge this policeman with murder. By then the pressure cooker had exploded. The peaceful protesters became peaceful looters, and off they went, with video looking very similar to Supermarket sweep. Your very vocal friends and family, who were quick to condemn the police, and rightly so, were dead silent when it came to the arson and pillaging. At some point I am certain that shame will drive them to condemn the anarchy, but much like the Minneapolis authorities, you’ve missed your window of responsibility. Personally, I was sick for a whole day, after seeing the video of the murder of this man. I’m still mad as hell about it, but I didn’t do anything to dishonor George Floyd. many of these so called protesters chose to remember him by stealing televisions and pretty much anything else they thought they could run off with. Looters and arsonists, it’s very hard for anyone to treat you like a human, when you act like an animal. The minute vandalism, arson, and looting begins, the protest is over.
I said all that in order to talk about this…
Our country is probably closer to collapsing than recovering. We have been divided as much as any country can be divided, on purpose, by our government. I have no idea why. People have been forced and shamed into isolation for twelve weeks now by authorities and social media. That all by itself is a powder keg. Add government overreach, media coverage of Minneapolis in a presidential election year, on top of everything we have endured over the last three or four years… any more shit and we might just go down like Frazier. Anybody on my side of the fence could have predicted this latest disaster. It is like playing go get the ball with one of your pets, and it works every time. I suppose you got to shore up your base, no matter the cost, right? Make no mistake, this is what’s going on. Things are going to get much worse, and it just feels like the whole world is on the brink of something.
Social media has become an outlet for the uninformed to group in packs, with very little purpose other than dragging anyone they disagree with to the ground and to devour their prey with talking points and cliches that have little meaning but become exhausting over time to deal with. The solution for many is to just keep their mouth shut. This makes the uninformed even more powerful, and eventually you walk off the field while they beat their chests, looking for someone else to throw shit at and run off the field of ideas. I love it, and I hate it, and for me, right now, I find myself asking this question… Would Jesus be on Facebook? I know that if I asked this question on social media, I would be attacked… even by some of my friends, but I think I know the answer.
So, we have a long way to go in 2020, and with this much hate, what is the solution?
I don’t know, but we are running out of time, and we better figure out who the bad guys are pretty soon.
