The first time I read through the bible there were many disturbing stories sprinkled through the old testament. Many things we just read over and keep going, and that’s kind of what I did when I came to the Canaanite god named Moloch, and child sacrifice. It’s very easy to think of it in terms of way back then, or in a place far away, but I wonder if they were really that much different from us. The Canaanites were killing their children in worship to a false god. We kill ours for a much more selfish reason, inconvenience. We tend to think of the Canaanites as barbaric, or savage, but we think of ourselves as enlightened. I disagree, and I suspect that if we all had to watch a couple of  hours worth of abortions in a movie theater, with all the gory details reveled that we are so shielded from, enlightened would be much farther from our minds than barbaric. Savage is what we are, and what we ever will be, no matter how we strive to pretty it up. Abortion is a blight on our country.
