How can it be the middle of November already? As I look to the east, and consider things, I’m wondering where fall ran off to. For central Kentucky, it’s customary to have a couple of weeks dedicated to leaf removal and winter preparation, but there isn’t a damn thing in this country that works like it’s supposed to anymore. While others scurry around like nothing is out of sort, I find myself muttering under my breath like a peasant in Westeros, “Winter is coming… we are not ready.”
The older I get, the less I care about cold weather, and I was never really a big fan. I suppose it’s because I worked outside for my entire working career, and when you’re in it every day you tend to prefer warm and sunny. Truthfully, this leaf thing is driving me crazy, because it just looks messy, but what can you do when it’s raining three or four days a week? Wet leaves don’t blow, or chop up, so I’m hoping for one more reasonably warm, dry week, so I can tend to my fairly short list of things left to do. Then I can get about doing the things I enjoy, like playing my Xbox… I have one game that I’m half way through, and two new games I’m ready to start, because…
Winter is coming…
