The worse mass shooting in American history. This is a good day to leave the television off, so I’m here, looking to the east as I normally do when there is a National tragedy like this. I’m listening to a Rock and Roll legend, Tom Petty. Our news is so unreliable now that we don’t know if he has died or not. Personally, I would love to have him call in and say Don’t Do Me Like That, but I am expecting the worse. I’m afraid that I am getting use to the worst in everything.
In our leaders.
In our entertainment.
In our church.
In our communities.
Today we are all Americans. Right? Not left, right, black, white, rich or poor, Just Americans. Wouldn’t that be nice for a change? United, not divided. Not constantly changing the narrative to fit things that can’t be denied.
Are we perfect? No. Nobody else is either.
Is there hate? Sure there is, and will be until Jesus returns, but there is also love, and I saw news clips of acts of love. Even as bullets were raining in and people were panicking, others were trying to comfort and protect the wounded and dying. Covering the ones they loved. I’m going to think of those things.
No more name calling. I am choosing to focus on the good. Stay on the high ground. It’s easier to defend.
No more name calling. May The Creator heal our broken country.
