Yesterday was a sad day for me, not because of anything other than the realization that a line had been crossed that could never be made right again. I don’t know how many viewers the NFL will lose, maybe many or maybe not very many at all. They have lost me. I am done. The NFL is blaming our president for them not getting their house in order but I don’t. Republican presidents are allowed an opinion just like Democrat presidents. Bucking the latest narrative is what has to be a very irritating fact for the NFL… the number one selling jersey today is from a veteran who left his teammates hiding in the locker room while he went out to honor our flag.

Here is my thinking on this whole big mess, that is part of a bigger, festering wound that has gone untreated for far too long.

The patient may live but a few things will need to be amputated.

If there was a movie that I wanted to see, and my wife and I spring for tickets, a bucket of popcorn, and jumbo drinks, I’m north of forty bucks. We walk in and find a seat, sit down and are a little excited to be there.

If not, why spend the money?

Five minutes before the movie starts, the screen comes on and the very people that I’m here to see, step out and give me a two minute social justice lecture.

Don’t worry about it Wayne, they have a right to their opinion.

You better shut your mouth, I just spent my hard earned money to escape the very thing they shoved in my face. Last time I checked, I’m allowed an opinion too. How about we flip this thing around and pretend you social justice warriors actually have the money for a movie.

Are you going to want somebody like me to step out and kill your escape from reality?

OMG, I feel so triggered… he said kill… everyone off to your safe space.

Alright, I should apologize but that won’t happen today, I’m just a little pissed off. I stayed away from football last year because of all this crap, and this year, for the first time, I got the NFL Sunday Ticket. I will never watch another game. I am sick of the opinion of my entertainment. Enlighten on your own dime.

I don’t blame this on anyone except the owners. I hope you lose your team. People are fickle and all this outrage will go away but there is a bigger issue here. For the longest time, during the National Anthem, people have disrespected our flag in one fashion or another, and all was well. I saw it on the sidelines for years, but last year, one overpaid quarterback who was about to lose his job, made a big deal out of poking his fingers in the eye of every veteran who ever put a uniform on. He’s nowhere to be found now but the poison he injected into the game I love has spread everywhere.

If you place this on the shoulders of anyone other than the owners, you are misreading where an awful lot of folks like me are coming from, and that’s alright, if you don’t need us anymore. Don’t change a thing. It’s time to move on to bigger and better things.
