I’m having a wonderful chat with my favorite seven year old the other day and we are discussing his favorite pastime, video games.

Me: Do you guys talk about video games at school?

Him: Yes, during recess.

Me: What else do you do at recess?

Him: I don’t know.

Me: Do you play Cowboys and Indians?

Him: No!

Me: No?

Him: No Big Daddy!

Play army?

No.

Tag?

NO!… Think about it.

Think about it?

Yes Big Daddy, somebody could get hurt….

Whut?

If you push somebody too hard they could fall down.

You guys don’t play dodge ball do you?

What’s that?

Big red ball, and you throw it at somebody….

Big Daddy!

Me: Remind me to tell you about lawn darts someday.

Do you ever feel like you have lived too long? I do. For centuries, if you fell into a deep sleep and if you could wake up hundreds of years later, you would never notice much, if any, difference.

Today, if you fall into a coma and woke up in ten years, it might be overwhelming.

I feel a rant forming, so, I will leave you with this question….

Can’t we please just let our children play without electronics?
