I have always wanted to see our country. For two weeks in June, 2016, my oldest sister, along with her husband, my wife, and myself, set set out to see things in person that we had read about in books our whole lives. So much will get lost if I wait any longer and we saw so much so fast that even now I am processing this most amazing vacation! We started from a small town in central Kentucky on Father’s Day.

When you get here, everything changes.

I wish that I had keep better track of exactly when we ran into the plains but I didn’t so until I go again, the one thing I remember for sure is that when you cross the bridge shown above, everything changes.

You cannot appreciate how colossal the badlands are until you compare the size to the highway on the right.

South Dakota is such a beautiful place.

Another awesome stop!

Devil’s Tower

One disappointment in South Dakota was the Crazy Horse Memorial. This has been under construction since 1948 and we don’t even have a head to show for it.   We also stopped in Sturgis  so we could visit the Harley shop. From there our next stop was Glacier national park in Montana.
